Calling all families and budding scientists! The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is hosting a FREE Earth Day Heroes event on Saturday, April 20th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm ET. This exciting event is your chance to explore the wonders of planet Earth and discover how YOU can make a difference!
Fun for all ages!
Inside the historic National Academy of Sciences Building, children will be immersed in a world of discovery through interactive exhibits and activities.
- Touch fascinating creatures in an aquarium touch tank.
- Learn about the importance of coral reefs.
- Explore the world of pollinators and soil health.
- Embark on a thrilling scavenger hunt.
- Get creative with arts and crafts.
- And so much more!
These activities are designed for children in grades K-8, but there's something for everyone. Informational resources about sustainability, Earth and climate science, and conservation will be on display throughout the event.

The National Academies are thrilled to partner with some amazing science-focused organizations for this event, including the Smithsonian Gardens, NASA, the Washington D.C. Department of Energy and Environment, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the National Zoo!
