Get Groovy with Sushi and Disco Balls: Sushi by Bou Arrives in Southwest DC

Sushi by Bou

The nation's capital is about to get a whole lot groovier with the arrival of Sushi by Bou, a unique concept that combines delicious omakase tastings with a full-on disco atmosphere.

Disco Fever Meets Omakase Flair

Sushi by Bou isn't your average omakase experience. While other restaurants in the DC area are offering traditional omakase experiences, Sushi by Bou brings a playful twist. This is the first omakase in the area to embrace a full-blown disco theme. Expect a vibrant space decked out with disco balls, pumping 70s tunes, and an overall atmosphere that's anything but stuffy.

A High-Energy Culinary Adventure

But the fun doesn't stop at the décor. Sushi by Bou offers a high-energy culinary adventure as well. The restaurant is known for its timed omakase experiences, making it a great option for a quick and delicious bite. Choose from a 12-course menu for $60 or a 17-course "Bougie" option for $100, both served within a 60-minute timeframe.

A Taste of Tradition with a Modern Twist

Led by chef and co-founder David Bouhadana, the omakase menu leans on tradition while offering some exciting twists. Diners can expect classic nigiri featuring yellowtail, spotted prawn, and fatty tuna, alongside a signature surf-and-turf combo featuring wagyu beef and uni (sea urchin). The "Bougie" option ups the ante with an additional five seasonal bites on top of the classic sushi pieces.

Beyond the Omakase

For those seeking an even more extensive experience, Sushi by Bou offers additional options. Handrolls and extra sushi pieces can be added to your omakase, perfect for those with a heartier appetite.

Drinks with a Japanese Twist

No dining experience is complete without delicious drinks, and Sushi by Bou doesn't disappoint. The restaurant boasts a menu of classic cocktails with a Japanese twist. Think bourbon infused with yuzu and honey syrup or a shiso-infused Japanese vodka cocktail with a touch of lime. For sake enthusiasts, sake flights starting at $45 are also available.

A Party Vibe with a View

The fun extends beyond the omakase counter. Sushi by Bou boasts a dedicated drinks-only lounge and rooftop terrace, offering stunning views of the Capitol building. This space, with seating for around 80 guests, is perfect for those who want to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere without a full omakase experience.

More Than Just a Meal

"We don't want to be an old-school, traditional omakase environment," says COO Daniel Zelkowitz. "Whether it's great omakase or a party, we can provide both." Sushi by Bou isn't just about the food; it's about creating an experience. With its disco vibes, delicious omakase, and innovative cocktails, Sushi by Bou promises to be a welcome addition to DC's dining scene.

Ready to Get Groovy?

Sushi by Bou is set to open its doors on Thursday, April 25th on the rooftop of the citizenM hotel near L'Enfant Plaza. Reservations are highly recommended, so be sure to snag your spot for a taste of disco-themed sushi fun!

Beyond the Beltway

This opening marks another step in Sushi by Bou's national expansion. COO Daniel Zelkowitz hints at the possibility of a second DC location in the future, so stay tuned for updates!
