Get ready for some fantastic Friday evenings because Jazz in the Garden is officially returning to the National Gallery of Art's Sculpture Garden!
Mark your calendars: starting May 23rd, you can enjoy live jazz music every Friday evening all the way through July 11th. That's seven whole concerts to look forward to! (Just a heads-up, there won't be a show on July 4th for the holiday).
Imagine this: warm summer air, beautiful sculptures all around, and the smooth sounds of live jazz filling the garden. Sounds pretty perfect, right?
The music kicks off at 6 PM, but the gates open an hour earlier at 5 PM. This gives you plenty of time to snag a good spot, spread out your blanket, and get comfy for the evening.
Now, here's the scoop on getting in. Tickets are free, which is awesome! However, you'll need to enter a lottery each week. The lottery opens the Monday before each concert at 10 AM and closes that Friday at noon. If you win, you'll get an email the following Monday and can grab up to four tickets.
Didn't win the lottery? Don't worry! A limited number of first-come, first-served passes will be available at the garden entrances starting at 5 PM on the day of the show. So, if you're feeling lucky, you can try your chances!
And what's a summer evening without some tasty treats? You can pack your own picnic to enjoy in the garden (just remember, no outside drinks allowed). Or, you can grab drinks and snacks from the garden's pop-up bars and the Pavilion Café. And yes, you heard right... the famous sangria will be back! They'll also have beer, wine, sodas, sandwiches, salads, and sweets.
The first band to get the summer grooving on May 23rd is the Lao Tizer Band, who play a cool mix of jazz and R&B. Sounds like a great way to kick things off!
So, get ready for some musical magic under the stars. Jazz in the Garden is a DC summer staple, and we can't wait for it to be back! Good luck with the ticket lottery, and we hope to see you there!
